(24) $1,221,806 for the construction of an exhibition hall replicating the former Southern Passenger Depot for the Railroad Historical Center;

Project Overview

Construction of a 4,000 square foot replica depot to be located adjacent to the seven historic rail cars owned by the Greenwood Museum and Railroad Historical Center. The depot would be made to resemble the Southern Passenger Depot that once set in the middle of Main Street in Uptown Greenwood. The depot provides an indoor space to present exhibits and interpretations of Greenwood’s rich railroad history. The location would become a unique and picturesque venue for the region for school related trips and social gatherings. Studies have shown that the Greenwood Railroad Historic Center has the potential to become a prime destination for the area drawing visitors and railroad enthusiasts from across the southeast.
